Reflexology

Calm, supportive reflexology for pregnancy and the postnatal period - led by a midwife.

Reflexology at Birth Boutique is offered during pregnancy and after birth, providing gentle, considered care in a calm and supportive setting. Treatments can be enjoyed purely for relaxation, or used thoughtfully to support common pregnancy and postnatal concerns where appropriate.

Each session is guided by clinical knowledge and an understanding of pregnancy and postnatal physiology. Care is always adapted to you, your stage of pregnancy or recovery, and how your body is feeling on the day.

This is a space to slow down, feel grounded, and receive hands-on care from someone who understands pregnancy and the postnatal period - without pressure or expectation.

Is pregnancy and postnatal reflexology safe?

It’s very natural to have questions about reflexology during pregnancy or after birth.

At Birth Boutique, reflexology is offered as both a relaxation treatment and, in some cases, as a treatment-focused approach to support specific pregnancy concerns. Reflexology for relaxation can always be offered. Whether reflexology is appropriate to support a particular issue depends on your individual circumstances and is carefully considered following consultation.

Some clients seek reflexology for common pregnancy concerns such as back or hip discomfort, or to support wellbeing when trying to avoid induction of labour. In these situations, reflexology may be appropriate, but this is not always the case. For treatment-focused reflexology, bookings are reviewed after completion of a consultation form to ensure care is suitable and safe.

Reflexology is provided by a registered midwife and is always guided by assessment, clinical judgement and your comfort. If treatment-focused reflexology is not appropriate, reflexology can still be offered as a deeply relaxing and supportive treatment.

If you’re unsure which type of reflexology would be right for you, you’re very welcome to get in touch before booking. We’re always happy to talk things through.

All pregnancy and postnatal reflexology treatments at Birth Boutique are provided by a registered midwife, with experience supporting both relaxation and treatment-focused care during pregnancy and after birth.

What happens during your consultation and appointment

Before your reflexology appointment, you’ll be asked to complete a consultation form. This helps us understand your pregnancy or postnatal recovery, how you’re feeling, and what you’re hoping to gain from the session.

If you’re booking reflexology for relaxation, your appointment will go ahead as planned. The consultation simply ensures your treatment is adapted to you on the day.

If you’re booking treatment-focused reflexology to support a specific pregnancy concern, your consultation form will be reviewed before the appointment is confirmed. This allows us to check whether reflexology is appropriate and safe for your individual circumstances at that time. If it isn’t suitable, we’ll be in touch to talk this through and discuss alternative options, including reflexology for relaxation.

During the appointment itself, you’ll be supported into a comfortable position and the treatment will be guided by your consultation, your comfort, and how your body feels on the day. Pressure and techniques are gentle and responsive, and you’re encouraged to share feedback at any point.

The consultation and approval process is there to ensure your care is thoughtful, appropriate, and led by clinical judgement — while still offering a calm, supportive experience.
